RADFORD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Radford University College is a private university established in 2010 and accredited by the National Accreditation Board(NAB) was founded by Nana Wiredu motivated by his acknowledgment of the great need identified in human history and in Ghana in particular, and accepting the challenge to make a contribution to address this need. Specifically, he saw the need for programmes that will foster entrepreneurial spirit needed for sustained development. The College is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Located at No. 83 A Lagos Avenue in East Legon, Accra near Mensvic Grand Hotel, Radford recently completed phase 2 of its campus project with a second 4-storey facility.

Thank you for your interest in Radford University College, Accra. We welcome your interest in pursuing higher education and congratulate you on selection Radford to begin or continue your studies. Education at all levels of pursuit is a community product. The student is supported by family, sponsors, mentors; instructors, staff and administration of the University in addition to the level of effort that the student makes in attaining the degree. Here at Radford, the student support is openly visible with programs like the Learning Center, Writing Center, Mentoring Program, Quality Learning Circles, Entrepreneurial activities, coupled with involvement by industry leaders and managers working side-by-side with the student. Our commitment to the student is to provide a learning environment that fosters success from day one through industrial attachment to graduation and the attainment of a career and specialization. As a new institution, we are proud to be mentored by KNUST; a highly respected and accredited institution that will issue our student’s degrees until we have attained full accreditation. We must all work towards that goal and you the student are an essential component in our success. We have signed memoranda of understanding with Midrand Graduate Institute South Africa and the University of the Fraser Valley British Columbia, Canada provides the exchange of staff and students between Radford and these universities. We look forward to working with each student as well as supporting the faculty and staff. We promise to be visible, accessible, and an integral part of your support team. REGISTRY MISSION

The mission of the Registrar’s Department is to support the Academic, Research and Public Service efforts of the University College by providing efficient, effective and professional service to our various client groups through the provision of credible information, advice and caring support in a safe inspiring setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Registrar assists the President and Executive Chairman in the day-to-day administration of the Academic Business of the University College, development and Implementation of Academic Policy and Quality Enhancement. The Office provides secretarial support for the Board of Trustees, the Academic Board, and Committees. It also provides student related administrative and information systems and management information to support the University’s processes, monitoring and implementation. It monitors and control student’s records, information management, timetabling, examinations, assessment, conferment and students systems. It provides counselling and guidance to management and students on academic programmes, course and credit transfers eligibility and options. The Office of the Registrar promotes an environment supportive of the University’s mission and vision, student-centred services and teaching excellence.

AKWAABA TO OUR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS!!!

The University and International Relations department was established in September 2011. The primary function of the University and International Relations department is to serve in matters pertaining to the International students and affairs of the University. Radford University College recruits students from Ghana and international students from African counties and students from other parts of the world. International students make up nearly a third of the student population of Radford University College. Radford’s International students are from Gabon, Congo Brazaville, Togo, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Mali, Columbia, Seychelles, Cameroun, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Benin. The department has oversight responsibility in student’s recruitment, processing of residence permits and assisting in accessing hostel accommodation for students. The department also oversees future housing arrangements for guest lecturers, dignitaries and interacts with affiliated Universities within and outside the country. The University and International Relations Department also coordinates all travels by International Faculty, guests lecturers, and Consultancy with students and research activities undertaken on behalf of the University or part of its programme. International students particularly students from Non-English speaking countries are required to submit their Certificates/Diploma to the National Accreditation Board for determination of equivalence and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana. Furthermore, copies of Certificates/Diplomas not in English are submitted to the Department of Modern Languages, University of Ghana for translation after which a certified copy of the translation is issued to the students.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY PRORAMME

A six month English Proficiency Programme has been put in place to assist students from Non-English speaking countries.

HOW TO STUDY IN RADFORD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

1. Once you receive an admission to study in Ghana go to the nearest Ghanaian Embassy, High Commission or Consulates to apply for a permit or visa if required. Take the visa processing time into consideration before you book your flight. 2. You will have to arrange for accommodation. You may contact the University College for assistance. You have the option of staying in a hostel or an apartment depending on your financial resources. 3. Once you arrive in Ghana, contact the Office of the University and International Relations, to ensure that you have the proper documents to enable you register your courses at the Registry. 4. Every student is required to participate in a mandatory orientation programme for students. This orientation programme has been designed to assist International students adjust to University life and specifically learn more about Radford and Ghana as a whole.

PROFILE OF DIRECTOR, UNIVERSITY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Mrs. Daisy Osei is the Director, University and International Relations Department. She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Adminstration (GIMPA), a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning, Management and Finance from (HIS), Ersamus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands and and a Bachelors Degree in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi, Ghana. She has over twenty three years working experience both in the public and private sector.
